DECEMBER 10, 2007—8:00 p.m.

The Town of Cross Plains Board of Supervisor met for their regular monthly meeting.  Meeting notices had been published in the Shopper, Mt. Horeb Mail, News Sickle Arrow and on the website.  Minutes of the November 5th meeting were read by the Clerk and moved for approval by Bob Bowman, seconded by Vera Riley and approved.

Coy Bethel, Dane County Deputy Sheriff appeared reporting that there were 186 calls for service in the Town since January, 2007 and 324 citations were issued.  He requested that if there are cell phones no longer being used they can delete all information and have them issued to needy persons.

Petition #9815 by Jerome Esser to rezone 20 acres in Section 27 from A-1 Ex to A-2 was heard.  Jim Boland reported that the Plan Commission had passed the petition unanimously.  Bob moved and Vera seconded to approve the petition, motion passed.

A list of the proposed election clerks and poll workers was read by the Clerk.  These individuals will serve from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2009.  Bob moved and Vera seconded to approve these names.  Harold recused himself because his wife is on the list.  The motion passed.

Harold reported that the CARP is looking for a new executive director.   The first round of candidates was not approved.  Dane County EMS wants a new radio system so fire and EMS can talk to each other.  Harold also reported that he attended a two-day conference for the Professional Dairy Processors of WI.  He visited an enthonal plant, large dairy farm that milks in three shifts, and saw a storage area for 10 million pounds of corn.

The Clerk reported that she had put a great deal of the information requested on the website and is working to keep it updated.  She hoped that this would be satisfactory.  Vera asked how it would be kept up when she was gone, and she indicated that her laptop would accommodate the updating necessary.

The Plan Commission is working on the survey to get the final results.  These should be ready for distribution at the next Plan Commissions meeting on the 17th of December at 7:30 pm.  It is possible to put some of the draft documents on the website.

The Board had received a resolution from Attorney Schmitt providing for fees/costs related to land use districts and development of lands for the Town of Cross Plains.  Bob moved that we table this to the January meeting so that the fee would apply only for map amendments and not for a rezone, Vera seconded.  Arnie Harris felt that we cannot do this without a subdivision ordinance.  Motion passed.

The Clerk read the minutes from the November 20th meeting of the Board wherein the Board appointed Jim Boland and Harold Krantz to the Intergovernmental Committee with the Village.  Harold has spoken to Mike Schultz from the Village about a meeting.

Vera reported that Northwest Dane appreciated the contribution from the Town.  They will have their celebration of life Christmas party tomorrow.  Harold reported on the equipment and the roads.  He said that the furnace at the garage went out, the truck blew an airline and the wing of the Peterbilt could not be lifted.  He also reported on the fire districts, nothing has been occurring recently.

The Clerk reported that Jim Ludolph is retiring and he recommended Fred Hankel to handle the electric and plumbing.  Carl Jones knows him.  The Clerk was told to get information about his qualifications and to hire him on a provisional basis.

Harold brought up the clear-cut driveway ordinance and an incident where the fire department went out and the lane was not plowed.  The Town would be responsible and could be held liable if the department were unable to get to a call.  There was discussion about the notice for an Intergovernmental Committee meeting and if it would be published in the paper.

The Clerk passed out the bills for the Town for approval.  The Town had also received a resolution for fees/costs related to reproduction of public records which was moved to table by Harold, seconded by Bob and tabled.  Bob reported on a map amendment process in the Town plan and has a document dated November 21, 1996.  Motion to adjourn by Vera, seconded by Bob, adjourned at 9:13 p.m.
