FEBRUARY 13, 2008—8:00 P.M.
The Town of Cross Plains Board of Supervisors held a meeting on Wednesday, Feb 13, 2008 at the Community Center for the purpose of setting a date for a Special Town Meeting to discuss matters related to authorizing the Town Board to exercise powers of a Village Board and to take action pursuant thereto. Notices of the meeting were posted at the Community Center, the Town Garage and at Morgans on Feb 12. All Board members, Jeff Baylis, Jim Mueller, Katy Reeder and a reporter from the Mt. Horeb Mail were present. Chairman Harold Krantz called the meeting to order.
He read the Resolution providing for setting a time and date for a Special Town Meeting to authorize the Town Board to exercise powers of a village board for the Town of Cross Plains, Dane County Wisconsin as prepared by Attorney Jim Schmitt. The Board was advised that notice of this meeting must be published twice, the first time not more than 20 days or less than 15 days prior to the meeting. The second publication must be no less than 7 days prior to the meeting date. Bob Bowman made a motion to hold the Special Meeting on March 10th at 8:00 p.m. in the Community Center. Vera Riley seconded the motion. Discussion followed. Vera stated that she would be out of town that week. Bob commented that the decision on the matter of Village Powers would be determined by a vote of the electors, not by the Board. All Board members voted in favor of the March 10 date. The Resolution was signed by Board Members and the Deputy Clerk. It will be published Feb 21st and 28th, 2008 and will be posted.
Vera moved to adjourn, Bob seconded approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m. Anne Herger, Deputy Clerk
